Leuchie House offers short respite breaks for people with long term physical conditions and their carers in a unique, fully accessible country house setting. At Leuchie House, our philosophy is that everyone deserves a decent break, whatever their individual care requirements. There is a country house feel at Leuchie, rather than a clinical atmosphere, with the emphasis on social as well as health care. We do everything we can to ensure guests' preferences are taken into account, as you would expect on any break, and aim to make sure everyone makes the most of their time here and leaves feeling rested and refreshed. Leuchie House is a classical country house set in its own extensive grounds in the East Lothian countryside, just a mile or so inland from the coastal town of North Berwick. It provides caring respite breaks for people and their families living with long-term conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, stroke, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson's, cerebral palsy and Huntington's. The period property retains all the character of an 18th Century classical house, whilst providing accessible accommodation for people with long-term physical conditions. There are accessible lifts to all floors and the house and grounds are fully accessible for wheelchair users, with equipment including hoists and Profile beds provided. There are seven single and eight twin-bedded bedrooms, which are high-ceilinged, light and spacious. Single rooms are allocated on a nursing-needs basis. All rooms are fitted with a nurse call system, with various adaptations to suit the individual's needs. There is 24-hour expert nursing care and all guests are offered a full range of outings and activities during their stay. Leuchie House has several accessible vehicles for guests' use. There is a fully-staffed physiotherapy unit and physio is offered to all guests during their stay. There is also a wide range of complementary therapies, hairdressing and beauty treatments available. Leuchie House provides homecooked meals, using locally-sourced produced wherever possible. All meals are tailor-made to guests' specialised medical requirements and there is always a vegetarian option.
