At a time when large sections of the tourism industry are reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we'd like to share some positive experience from a part of the sector that shows resilience and significant success: the long-term accommodation market.

By placing a razor-sharp focus on the needs of senior clients who are looking for a place in the sun, over the last decade we have developed a broad range of specially targeted services covering administrative, financial and practical concerns. Our clients, from over 25 countries around the world, tend to be independent retirees / seniors who spend long periods of time in or move permanently to southern Europe.

Although some of these independent living options are not suitable for persons with mobility impairments, others are. Our efforts to ensure accessibility, safety and comfort for all are based on years of experience, focusing on universal access as far as possible, supplemented by customised solutions where required. Whether customers are looking for a "staycation" or permanent residence, having an accessible home with reliable services close by is vital for some - and convenient for many - making accessibility a winning factor in marketing to the older and retired clientelle.

We are one of very few companies that offer both long-term rentals (annual rentals, winter stays, etc.) as well as property sales. In the Algarve, we represent what we believe is one of the largest independent portfolios of winter and long-let accommodation, We also have access to long lets in greater Lisbon, Porto, Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol and operate a finder service to find individual apartments with suitable accessibility.

We deal with many D7 visa applicants, those looking for accommodation to support residency applications via proof of income, in Portugal, and visa clients in Spain. Large parts of these processes can be handled at a distance, allowing clients to plan efficiently. We support many applicants with obtaining the Non-Habitual Resident (NHR) status which entitles eligible applicants to pay a very low rate of tax (10%) on qualifying foreign income (including many pensions), for a period of 10 years.

We also continue to offer a range of services, via our vast specialist partner network, from visa application support, assisting with health insurance, vehicle importation, opening bank account, getting fiscal number, registering at the health centre. We are happy to make introductions, for our clients, to a range of independent lawyers and accountants.
