The European Commission has engaged Valdari Vicari and Associates (VVA) to establish a working group of tourism sector organisations and experts who have examined consumer reviews and ratings as used across a range of online market places featuring tourist accommodation services.

A draft document has now been produced on "Principles and recommendations for Good Practice in online consumer reviews and ratings".

The Principles are intended for providers of online marketplaces offering bookings, comparison shopping services, online meta search engine, reviews and ratings for all types of accommodation situated in the European Union. They should be seen as guidance to providers on best practices. They should however not be seen as legal guidance.
